Bay Leaf, also known as Laurel Leaf, is a member of the Lauraceae family. This oil has a fresh, strong but sweet, aromatic camphoraceous odour. It is classed as a top note and blends well with camphoraceous, citrus and woodsy oils.

Bay / Laurel Leaf is known to relax muscles and may be effective for digestive issues like colic, indigestion or upset stomach. It boasts antiseptic properties which may help for throat, tooth and gum infections.

Bay / Laurel Leaf Pure Essential Oil is also used as an aid in the following: Boils, Rheumatism, Pain, Promoting Appetite and Removing Toxins.

Bay / Laurel is known for its strong effects on the nervous system. Its antispasmodic and analgesic properties make it mildly narcotic. Coupled with its sedative properties, it is used for neuritis, depression, anxiety, fear and psychosis. Its stimulating and warming properties are used to produce fire and warmth in one's emotions, bringing awareness, courage and confidence. 

Bay / Laurel's antiseptic, antibacterial, and anti-fungal properties are used with scars, acne pimples, boils, scabies, etc. It is reportedly a tonic to the hair and scalp stimulating hair growth and aiding with dandruff.

Some history of the Bay Leaf / Laurel Leaf

Bay / Laurel leaf has been known for thousands of years but the use of its leaves as a household culinary herb is a comparatively recent one. 

Bay / Laurel oil was very popular with the Romans, who thought Bay / Laurel was a symbol of wisdom, peace and protection. The Latin Laudis means to praise, which is why the victors at the Olympic games were presented with a Laurel (Bay) Wreath.
