A relative of the same family as parsley, carrot and celery, this earthy, sweet tasting tea is often used to help reduce inflammation and support the cardiovascular system. It is said to invigorate and balance the entire body. It's popular in Chinese medicine (often called 'female ginseng') for female health concerns such as menopausal symptoms, menstrual cramps, bloating, headaches, migraine, and many other conditions. It is also used orally as a "blood purifier"; to manage hypertension, infertility, joint pain, ulcers, "tired blood" (anemia), and constipation; and in the prevention and treatment of allergic attacks.

Brewing Details:

Use 1-2 teaspoons per cup of boiling water and steep for 3-10 minutes depending on taste. Then strain and serve - add your favourite natural sweetener if necessary.

If you have any condition that might be made worse by estrogen, don't use dong quai.
